What Fossils can you find at Aberlady?

(Bryozoan in rock) - 2007

There are lots of fossils to be found at Aberlady. Bryozoans and Corals are the most common here. One of the most common corals is a colonial coral called Lithostrotion junceum. These corals can be seen by complete foreshore beds several metres thick. They are beautiful to see. Please do not destory the beds of these, but leave for others to admire, instead collect any broken or loose pieces on the foreshore. Another coral that is very common looks like macaroni and is called 'Lithostrotion pauciradiale'. Compound corals such as Caninia and Zaphrentis are also common

There are many brachiopods to be found here including Eomarginifera, Avonia, Composita, Pustula, Spirifer and Pugnoides.

(Trilobite Track) - 2007

Triobite tracks are very common and you can see complete layers of them in the cliff, once again, please do not destroy but leave for others to see. These tracks have been made by the animal moving through the mud. Trilobites themselves can also be found but are rare, mostly the heads or tails are found. Lastly, fish fragments and crinoids also quite rare can been found.
